Grindtime has changed my life forever! It gave me a second home when I didn’t realize I needed one. Grindtime is an ever-growing family that looks out for each other and gives countless people a space to be safe and express themselves in whatever way they want.
It’s taught me how to believe in myself and others around me. To take action and not sit around and let things happen. To stand our ground and to get shit done, eventually.
Why Gindtime is important to the community?
Grindtimes is huge for the community in many ways. From messing with the groms to all the dancing and running and dodging it might not appear to you as a place thats for the community. That’s until you walk in and you see the people behind it all. These are people that have grown up on the boulevard and that have been there through it all. Most importantly they care, we all do so very much.
Grindtime isn’t there so that we could be millionaires in a couple of years, chances are we’ll have less than we do now but we do it because we see the love and we feel the love from all the artists and skaters and anyone who’s felt like they didn’t have somewhere or someone to go to. Grindtime is and always will be there for that and to help in any way we can as much as we can.
It’s especially important because we’re a new generation coming up on some fucked up times and I think we have to make sure we’re showing everyone that even though everything is changing and it feels like we’re powerless to most things that come with living in this country, we do have the power to change and to grow with every day that we wake up. We have to pave to road for those after us and make sure no one’s left out.

How old were you when you started skating?
I was 18 when I really got into skating but always had my eye on the sport. I got my first board at 8 and didn’t start skating till 10 years later if you believe that.
What got you into skating?
Since I was young as previously mentioned I would see skaters all around my area. I grew up in Manhattan for a while and lived right across the street from The Brooklyn Banks. How has Grindtime helped you?
Grindtime has done so much for me and I couldn’t be more grateful. If not for them I can confidently say I would not be skating today. I could say I probably wouldn’t be working today. And I could also say without them I really wouldn’t have friends today. A lot of the people I knew from high school left after high school and I haven’t heard from them since. So without GT I wouldn’t have anyone by my side right now.
Why Gindtime is important to the community?
GT wasn’t a skate shop, it was always a family. It was a safe space for anyone who felt like an outcast or felt like they didn’t fit in somewhere. GT provided the comfort needed to feel like you belonged because you finally did. You finally found a home to call your own and people you could depend on.
